Report: EU diplomacy head says sanctions vs Russia likely prolonged

MOSCOW, May 19 (PRIME) -- E.U. Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini expects the European sanctions against Russia due to the political crisis in Ukraine to be prolonged, she told Die Welt, as reported on Thursday.

She told the newspaper that the goal of sanctions was to force fulfillment of the Minsk peace agreement. “This has not been achieved,” she said and added “I expect it,” referring to the prolongation.

The current set of European sanctions will remain in force until July 31.
